Our independence and what we can't promise

We are completely independent

No surgeon or clinic pays to appear on Surgeon Shortlist. We do not take commissions, referral fees, advertising money, sponsorships or any other payment from surgeons, clinics, hospitals or anyone connected to them. Surgeons cannot pay to be included, placed higher or kept off the list.

The only people who pay us are the people using the service. That is the whole point. If that ever changes, this page will say so first.

We do not arrange consultations, bookings or travel, and we are not an agent, broker or intermediary for any surgeon. Any contact you make with a surgeon is between you and them.

This is research, not a recommendation

A shortlist is a starting point for your own research. It is not a recommendation, an endorsement or a guarantee that any surgeon is right for you. Appearing on a shortlist means a surgeon met our credential checks on the date we ran them. It does not mean we have assessed their work, met them, seen their results or know how they will treat you.

No guarantee of results

Strong credentials lower risk. They do not remove it. Every surgery carries risk, and no surgeon, however qualified, can guarantee an outcome. We make no promise about the result of any procedure, the quality of care you receive, pricing, availability or how a surgeon behaves. We are not responsible for anything that happens between you and a surgeon you found through us.

Not medical advice

Nothing on this site is medical advice. We are not doctors and we are not a healthcare provider. Whether a procedure is suitable for you is a question only a registered medical practitioner who has examined you can answer. Always consult a qualified surgeon, ask hard questions, and get a second opinion if anything feels off. If you have a medical emergency, contact local emergency services.

Accuracy of the information

We check surgeons against publicly available sources, including medical board registers, specialist society memberships, hospital roles and published or presented work. We do our best to keep this accurate, but registers change, licences lapse, and people move. Information can be out of date or incomplete by the time you read it.

Before you commit to anything, verify a surgeon's current registration and standing directly with the medical board in their country, and confirm their qualifications with the surgeon in person.

Your decision

Choosing a surgeon is your decision and your responsibility. Use Surgeon Shortlist as one input among several. Read reviews, speak to past patients, attend consultations, and trust your judgement.

Paid passes

A pass is a digital service. Access starts the moment your payment goes through, and it is sent to the email address you give us. Because access is immediate, passes are non-refundable. By buying a pass you agree to immediate access and acknowledge that you lose the statutory right to cancel once access has been delivered. A pass gives you access to our research tools for the stated period. It does not buy a result, a consultation or a guarantee. Full details are in our terms of use.
