Questions to ask at a consultation
A consultation is a job interview, and you're the one hiring. A surgeon who welcomes these questions is usually the surgeon you want.
- How many of this procedure did you do last year, and what share of your work is it?
- What do you do when a result isn't what the patient hoped? Do you take on your own revisions?
- Where will the surgery take place, and who looks after me if there's a problem at night or at the weekend?
- Can I see results from patients with a similar starting point to mine, not only your best ones?
A profile tells you what a surgeon does, not how well. Credentials confirm specialist training, not results. Everything above comes from official registers, professional bodies and the practice's own site, never from the surgeon paying us.

Tine Arnež
Ljubljana, SloveniaIn plain English
Tine Arnež holds a currently valid plastic surgery specialist licence in Slovenia and works at University Medical Centre Ljubljana.
The Medical Chamber of Slovenia register lists Tine Arnež, dr. med., with a licence in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery valid from 26 March 2023 to 25 March 2030. The register gives the workplace as the plastic surgery and burns department at University Medical Centre Ljubljana, and the hospital's own 2024 waiting-list document lists him in that department. He also passed the European Board exam in plastic surgery and was awarded the fellowship in 2015. PubMed lists four papers with him as an author, the most recent in 2022.
Another Ljubljana plastic surgeon, Zoran Arnež, shares the surname and co-authored some of the papers, so the register entry and hospital listing were matched on the first name Tine.
The Medical Chamber register publishes licence dates and workplaces but no disciplinary or conditions data, and the workplace entry is informative only.
ISAPS, US and Australian directories did not list him, which is only weak evidence either way and does not change the register result.
What we confirmed
Tine Arnež, dr. med. holds a licence in 'plastična, rekonstrukcijska in estetska kirurgija' valid 26 March 2023 to 25 March 2030. The listed workplace is UKC Ljubljana, Kirurška klinika, KO za plastično kirurgijo in opekline, Zaloška 7. The register publishes no disciplinary information.
Tine Arnez is listed as a Fellow of the European Board. He passed the exam on 26 April 2014 and the fellowship was awarded on 17 June 2015. He trained in Slovenia and is a Slovenian citizen. This does not license him to practise and does not show current good standing.
University Medical Centre Ljubljana's April 2024 list of persons authorised for waiting lists names Tine Arnež, dr. med. under the Clinical Department for Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic Surgery and Burns. It shows him as an assistant for the specialist plastic surgery and burns outpatient clinic and for hand, breast reconstruction and skin procedures.
Published research: has published in medical journals.

What this doesn't tell you
Registration confirms specialist training. It can't tell you how skilled a surgeon is, how often they perform your procedure, or what your results will be. Those are questions for your consultation. Registers change, so confirm anything important with the register before you decide.
