Checking a plastic surgeon in Sweden
In Sweden, a plastic surgeon should hold a licence (legitimation) with specialist competence in Plastikkirurgi. Here's where to check it and what to look for.
The register must be checked by hand; we check societies and hospitals. Last checked 18 October 2026What the titles mean in Sweden
Socialstyrelsen keeps the HOSP register of licensed health professionals. It has no public online search; Socialstyrelsen confirms licences by phone or email.
We check the Swedish Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, whose members must hold specialist competence in plastic surgery, and the European aesthetic society's directory. The licence itself must be confirmed with Socialstyrelsen.
What we check for Swedish surgeons
Society membership is voluntary. Not being a member doesn't mean a surgeon isn't qualified.
How to check it yourself
