In Bulgaria, a plastic surgeon should hold the specialty Пластично–възстановителна и естетична хирургия (plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery). Here's where to check it and what to look for.
We read the official register directly. Last checked 18 October 2026What the titles mean in Bulgaria

We read the national register directly. Names typed in English letters are converted to Cyrillic automatically.
What we check for Bulgarian surgeons
Society membership is voluntary. Not being a member doesn't mean a surgeon isn't qualified.
How to check it yourself
- Search the surgeon's first name and surname in Cyrillic on the national register. Bulgarian Medical Association register
- Check the specialties include 'Пластично–възстановителна и естетична хирургия'.
- 'Естетична (козметична) хирургия и медицина' is not the plastic surgery specialty.
Common questions
